The Spring/Summer 15′ collection titled ‘The Hippie Apocalypse’ takes its influence from the cult Detroit art anti-rock band Destroy All Monster (DAM). DAM initially lasted from 1973-78 with original members Mike Kelley, Jim Shaw, Niagara, Cary Loren and later joined by several members from The Stooges and MC5. The band was a departure from the free spirited hippie haze and found influences within Sun RA, Velvet Underground and ESP-Disk. The Hippie Apocalypse is our view into this transition era moving into futurism.

COMUNE // A/W12 LOOK BOOK SHOOT BEHIND THE SCENES

For our A/W12 Look book shoot we put together this behind the scenes video. This video provides a little insight into the people and personalities responsible for making COMUNE tick.
We took this opportunity to get out of the city and venture out to the high desert of California. We rented house called the “Boulder House” which served as our home base during the three day catalog shoot. Trips like this are a great way for us to get out of our daily routines, and work together in a completely different setting. It’s great to hike around, location scout, prepare meals together, just spend some quality down time with each other. We returned back to L.A. with clear minds and a renewed sense of camaraderie. Thank you to all our friends who came along and everyone involved.

COMUNE, The Quiet Life & Gentle Fawn conquered London
The London tradeshow weekend has come and gone to mark the start of London fashion week.
COMUNE & The Quiet Life took part exhibiting at Stitch men’s wear at the business design centre Islington. With Gentle Fawn exhibiting at Margin London. Meeting with lots of happy buyers viewing the new autumn winter 12 collections. Stand out styles from COMUNE being the tailored women’s, outerwear, denim and Drop City artist t shirts.
The Quiet Life stood out with their new cut and sew, graphic and camera club t’s, and of course an array of snap back caps & 5 panel caps in differ fabrics and prints.
Whilst Gentle Fawn shone with their strong all over hand drawn digital printed fabrics, wool mix outerwear and their essentials line.

ABOUT THE CAMERA CLUB
The Camera Club is a project we started because we love photography.
We wanted to create a place online where photographers from around the world, of all levels,
could submit their own, favorite photos, to become an instant member of the Club.
Submissions are open to photographers of all levels. To become a member is simple, just send a few photos you’ve taken to us
using the simple steps outlined in the JOIN THE CLUB section.
The main focus with the Camera Club is our online gallery, but in the past few years we have started
to take some of our favorite submissions and put them in book form. We’ve published 2 collections
of Camera Club images so far. The Second Volume is hot off the presses…..
Besides publishing books we’ve also expanded The Camera Club into some items such as
such as t-shirts, jackets and bags. We are going to continue to add new Camera Club items each season.

Here’s a few words about the trip by Jacob McCabe:
This past winter a few of us here at COMUNE went on a 500 mile journey through the mountains and the deserts east of Los Angeles. Armed with multiple maps and a variety of cameras we went out on a 16-hour adventure to scout the locations for our A/W 12 look book. We found that each location had its own singular spirit and we felt an extraordinary oneness with nature.
The next day as we began to compile the images, the story began to render itself. We realized that the journey we had taken was so profound that we wanted to mimic this experience for our look book and short film.
From the top of the world feeling up in the snowing mountains at ten thousand feet, the large rock boulders that formed by ancient glaciers, and through the old souls of the Cholla cactus gardens; this was an incredible expedition that we are very proud to share with you.

COMUNE // ALEXIS GROSS BEHIND THE SCENES A/W 2012 CATALOG SHOOT.
COMUNE/Drop City contributor Alexis Gross recently accompanied us on our Autumn/Winter 2012 Catalog shoot.
We ventured out to Joshua Tree California to enjoy the weather, and beautiful scenery the desert has to offer. Alexis is a joy to have around and her positive energy and humor is infectious. We had such a good time shooting our catalog and luckily Alexis was along for the ride to capture all these behind the scenes photos.
Alexis Gross is a photographer, artist, and curator. She has identified with a natural passion for taking pictures and an artful future has become apparent. Her pictures are a true extension of her everyday existence, and it’s obvious to those who know her, that what you see is what you get. Feisty, private, eccentric, and amused by records, marijuana, motorcycles, skateboarding and older men, Alexis is a rare bird. Her connection to the skate industry has provided fodder for a portfolio of unique and absorbing imagery. Lifestyle and portraits showcase a fresh and exciting perspective, and Gross has garnered a great amount of respect from all those she’s worked with, both subjects and colleagues alike. Alexis has been featured in and contributed to high profile publications including: Color (Canada), Wow (France), Thrasher(America), Foam (America), Urban Outfitters (America), Complex (America), and Monster Children (Australia). Recently, Alexis debuted her art at a show that she also curated at KCDC in Brooklyn. She has appeared in art shows all over America and Canada, solo and group. Collaborating with retailers, art collectives, and other creatives, Alexis is continuously inspirited by her friends and surrounds.
